The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says three people were hospitalized following a car crash on Highway 154 near Rancho Alegre early Sunday morning.
Fire department officials received initial reports of a two-vehicle crash on the 2300 block of Highway 154 shortly after 12 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities say first responders had to extricate one patient with life-threatening injuries. Two other patients self-extricated with minor injuries, officials say.
The fire department says all three patients were taken to Cottage Hospital after the crash.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
Two engines and a battalion chief with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, ambulance and CALSTAR responded to the car crash, officials say.
