A loaded gun was found in a man's carry-on bag at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport on Tuesday, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
TSA officials say the 9 mm Glock was found at about 6:45 a.m. during routine screening in the security checkpoint. The man was ticketed for travel to Los Angeles International Airport.
Airport police responded, confiscated the weapon, and interviewed the traveler. He was reportedly allowed to continue on his flight.
The man is expected to be fined between $2,000 and $10,000 for the violation.
TSA says this is the third firearm found at the SLO Airport this year.
Guns can be transported on commercial aircraft but only under specific conditions. They must be unloaded, packed in a locked, hard-sided case and placed in checked baggage.
