UC Santa Barbara Police on Monday identified the person who died at Campus Point last Thursday as Geoff Jewel, 52.
Jewel was a staff member at the university's Bren School of Environmental Science and Management.
Police announced Thursday evening that they were investigating a suspicious death after initially getting a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at Campus Point.
A person-of-interest was reportedly detained later that evening.
Police say an autopsy was performed on Jewel's body on Monday.
No other information was released, but police say they are working with the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Coroner on the investigation.
