A U.C. Santa Barbara police officer has been arrested on suspicion of battery and brandishing a firearm.

Santa Barbara police say Marco Pavico got into an argument at a nightclub early Sunday morning and apparently displayed his badge and firearm in a "non-official capacity."

Police say they were made aware of the incident through a social media post. After investigating and identifying Pavico as the suspect, he was arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.

The UCSB Police Department has placed Pavico on leave and seized his firearm while that agency conducts its own investigation.
