Surveillance video from a home in Arroyo Grande captured a bear wandering around a driveway Tuesday night.
KSBY viewer Kathy Reimer sent in the video Wednesday morning. Reimer says the video of the bear was captured at around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
The incident was captured on Canyon Way off of Tally Ho Road in Arroyo Grande. California Fish and Wildlife Patrol Captain Todd Tognazzini said they have not received any reports of a bear in the area.
Tognazzini said that bear sightings in rural areas of Arroyo Grande, especially near Lopez Lake are common. Lopez Lake is the peak area of bear sightings in San Luis Obispo County.
Wildlife officials say this is a good reminder for residents to always be cautious. Never leave out garbage, or pet food. This way the bears do not continue to come back and become habituated with human or pet food.
If you have an unusual encounter with a wild animal, you can report it at the Fish and Wildlife website. By filing out a wildlife incident report this helps wildlife officials track where specific animals are being located.
