Cottage Center for Population Health is working to help slow the spread of covid-19 in the Latino community.
With the help of some Latino community-based organizations, several new community health ambassadors (CHAs) will start training this month on the basics of covid-19 prevention and outreach.
Officials say CHAs are members of the community who can help the company address racial and ethnic disparities in health.
About 200 CHAs will help distribute covid-19 prevention kits to their friends and neighbors.
Kits include:
- Masks for adults and children, sanitizing wipes, COVID-19 information and resources, coloring booklet, and stickers and crayons provided by Cottage Health
- Vitamin D supplements provided by Naturewise and Dr. Richard Mazess
- Hand sanitizer provided by Santa Barbara County Public Health Department
