The owner of one Christmas tree lot in San Luis Obispo says sales were down this year.
There are at least 300 trees left at Brookshire Farms on Los Osos Valley Road.
Now, employees will start taking down stands, taking off tags and picking up the trees.
The trees don't go to waste, though. Some of them are donated to the Department of Fish and Wildlife and taken to Lake Nacimiento.
"They tie them together and put bricks on them and they put them in the bottom of the lake. As the lake rises, they become fish habitat," said Shawn Callaway, Brookshire Farms co-owner.
Some of the trees are also chipped and used as mulch at the farm.
