Wildlife officials are investigating reports of a dead mountain lion discovered recently in the Vandenberg Village area.
Lt. Jaime Dostal says the mountain lion was reportedly seen somewhere on the Burton Mesa Ecological Reserve, which is Fish & Wildlife property and near Vandenberg Village homes.
A biologist on Monday tried to locate the mountain lion's carcass but was unsuccessful.
The investigation is ongoing.
