"Wheels 'n Windmills" draws crowds to Solvang for 15th annual car show

People walked up and down the streets of Solvang, admiring stock and modified cars.

Every year, for 15 years, "Wheels 'n Windmills" hosts this popular car show as a way to bring car enthusiasts together and raise money for charity.

The showcase is open to all makes and models of 1980 and earlier stock and modified classic cars.

A maximum of 300 hot rods, trucks, sports cars and motorcycles lined the neighborhoods of Copenhagen Dr., First St., Second St., Park Way and other streets.

Participants could enter their hot wheels for the chance to win an award.

Awards were given out in categories like stock class, modified class, special interest, merchant awards and special awards.

Cars entered for stock class awards featured antiques and pre-war to 1941, 1955-57 Chevy, Corvettes to 1980 and many more.

Special interest vehicles ranged from woodies to rat rods to race cars.

According to their website, the even has donated more than $336,000 to local and national charities since 2005.
