Sheila Kearns Chocolate and Confections has switched to curbside pickup during the COVID-19 pandemic and stay-at-home orders.

The luxury chocolatier recently opened on Marsh Street in downtown San Luis Obispo.

Owner Sheila Kearns has been making chocolates since she was a child and with two Parisian aunts, one a pastry chef and the other a chocolatier, it runs in the family.

Over the past few weeks, she's had to make changes, like many other businesses, including shutting down the retail area, wiping down surfaces more often, and wearing gloves.

She's selling online and also offering curbside pickup, which has proven to be a hit so far.

"We're getting regular communications from our customers that they are needing a little bit of chocolate just for sanity and so if they are out just while they are heading to the grocery store, the pharmacy and they're making a quick stop by here and we run out that little bit of sanity for them and just trying to keep everybody happy and safe and get through this together," Kearns said.

For Easter, the shop has painted bunnies, a power bunny filled with dried fruit and sunflower seeds, and the popular hot chocolate bar egg, among other assortments.

All the chocolates sold at Sheila Kearns are organic, soy lecithin free, and ethically sourced with no fillers or artificial additives.
