A San Luis Obispo thrift store is reopening after it closed at the start of the pandemic.

Fred and Betty's is a non-profit that donates its proceeds to the SLO Classical Academy.

The store manager says that when the academy closed, the thrift shop closed, too.

The store had to rehire and train a whole new crew of workers.

They also rearranged inventory and adjust prices.

"We used this time to revamp the store," explained Gaby Demick, Assistant Manager. "We have a whole new team. Yeah, we're just really excited to meet everyone that comes in and the regulars and even elevate the Fred and Betty's experience."

Demick says Fred and Betty's prides itself on offering unique pieces of clothing that fit a variety of sizes and ages.

The store manager also says buying used and consignment is a sustainable way to shop for clothes.

Fred & Betty's Thrift Store is located at 532 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo.
