This week Congressman Salud Carbajal helped pass the Coastal and Marine Economies Protection Act, which centers on banning offshore drilling off California’s Central Coast, the Gulf of Mexico and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Congressman Carbajal and other central coast community leaders joined together to speak out against the influence of big oil at a press conference Friday.

Carbajal said he hopes this will help prevent oil spills and encourage renewable energy.

“We are all so very lucky to live here in such an amazing place. It's one of my top priorities in congress to make sure our home stays that way. So I’m fighting to protect our coast from the dangers of off shore oil and gas drilling,” said Congressman Carbajal.
