An annual Santa Maria event is being postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
Organizers announced Wednesday that the 77th annual Elks Rodeo & Parade, originally scheduled for the end of May, will now take place September 24 - 27.
All other Elks Rodeo-related events, including the Queen Contest Campaign, will also be re-scheduled.
“The health and safety of our volunteers, contestants, fans and staff is our top priority. Elks Recreation, Inc. remains committed to our sponsors, businesses, non-profit organizations, volunteers and fans safety and well-being and will continue to monitor the situation to ensure conditions will allow us to hold the 77th Annual Elks Rodeo & Parade safely on these newly announced dates,” organizers said in a press release.
The parade is now scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. along Broadway.
