KSBY’s Friday Night Highlights Week 3 ‘Game of the Week’ features Arroyo Grande taking on Lompoc.
The Eagles started the season with a dominating win over San Luis Obispo, 56-21. That was followed by a difficult loss to Helix, a top 30 ranked team in California. Arroyo Grande is coming off a 28-14 victory against Independence but say the preparations for Friday’s game against Lompoc isn’t any different than it’s regular week-to-week mindset.
However, the team explains its nice to get a second chance to compete against Lompoc after last year’s season opener against the Braves resulted in a 44-7 loss.
"I’m looking forward to getting a second chance at Lompoc and showing them what we have to bring to the table this year," said Colton Theaker, Arroyo Grande senior kicker. "I feel like we have a lot more guys that want to put in the work and are dedicated to each other and want to do something in CIF’s."
"It’s always fun to play local teams, especially local teams with such a strong tradition such as Lompoc. AG-Lompoc has been one of the premier non-league games in this area, so I’m really excited we get to continue that tradition," explained Mike Hartman, Arroyo Grande head coach.
The game will also serve as Lompoc’s home opener. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
