Blues make it 5 straight with 4-2 win over Expos

Posted

The Blues captured their 5th straight win on Friday night, defeating the California Expos in the first of a three-game set at Sinsheimer Park.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 6th, Broc Mortensen got his squad on the board as he grounded one softly to short, but the ball was bobbled, allowing Justice Gibbons to score the tying run. An error on the first baseman allowed another run to score for San Luis Obispo, giving the Blues a 2-1 lead.

Now with the game 2-2 in the bottom of the 7th, Ryan Cole led the inning off with a triple. Then with Broc Mortensen batting, Cole scurried home on a wild pitch, giving the Blues a 3-2 lead.

Sidney Lacy got into a bit of a jam in the 8th, but the Cuesta Cougar buckled down and got back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning, preserving the 3-2 lead.

The Blues tacked on another run in the 8th, as San Luis Obispo (5-0) keeps their perfect record intact.
