The 3rd annual Nipomo Youth Camp wrapped up this afternoon at Nipomo High school. 112 kids participated in the four-day camp, which consisted of shooting contests, and a variety of basketball fundamentals.
More than 30 high school students helped as coaches and counselors throughout the four days.
“The youth get the chance to learn the real fundamentals of basketball,” Executive Director of Nipomo Recreation Jeff Long said. “I know growing up in San Luis and going to the Cuesta camps, I was able to do the same thing, so I kind of emulated this camp from that. I know that the connection with the high school kids and the little kids is great when they’re walking around town, or they’re at their games, they just have a connection now with the high school.”
