Los Padres National Forest officials have issued a forest order closing the Dolan Fire area on the Monterey Ranger District to the public, starting Aug. 26.
According to the press release, this closure "begins near Timber Top following the North Coast Ridge Road, east to Cold Spring Camp and the Big Sur Trail. Continuing eastward, the closure boundary follows the South Fork Trail to the Marble Peak Trail where it intersects with the Arroyo Seco/Indians Road and follows the road southeast to the National Forest boundary and then southwest along the boundary to Nacimiento-Fergusson Road where it heads west along the northern edge of the road to Highway 1."
Forest officials said in the release this closure is meant to keep the public safe and clear the area for fire equipment traffic.
The fire started on Aug. 18 and is currently 20,397 acres and 15% contained.
