Firefighters were able to stop forward progress on a vegetation fire that broke out near San Simeon Friday morning.
Crews responded to the area 10 miles up San Simeon Creek Road from Highway 1 at about 6:40 a.m.
CAL FIRE SLO said the fire had the potential to spread to 30 acres, but crews were able to keep it to .5-1 acre.
No structures were threatened.
A short time later, a fire broke out in the Salinas Riverbed in Paso Robles south of the Niblick Bridge.
CAL FIRE SLO said at around 7:50 a.m. the fire was 1/8-acre in size with the potential to burn five acres.
