Good morning, Central Coast! Happy Monday, as we kick off the week there is a lot of focus still sitting on this abnormally hot forecast.
Diving right in, over the weekend there were many active weather alerts for the extreme heat but at this point those have all been dropped/expired. Now this is not because it isn't hot, simply because it is slightly less extreme. Continue your common sense measures to stay safe, especially at the Mid State Fair.
As far as our forecast goes for today, the overall pattern has shifted slightly as monsoon moisture begins to degrade the main high pressure system that has driven our heat wave over the past few weeks. For us there will be more cloud cover but into the Today, monsoonal moisture will bring some clouds to the area, with a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts, just east of the Central Coast. We are expected to NOT see any heavy rain in the forecast today.
With less monsoon cloud cover expected Tuesday and weaker onshore flow, it's likely that most areas will see a bump up in temperatures, I think this will push a few of the interiors into advisory/warning thresholds although none are issues yet.
Wednesday the cool down will kick off. slightly cooler temps will drop highs slightly. This will take highs in the interiors to right around 100 degrees. While that is a bit warmer than normal it isn't as bad as we have seen recently.
Coastal valleys will also fall a few degrees.
