Strong winds, high surf continue into Monday

Sunday was a sunny and mild day for much of the Central Coast as some areas south of Point Conception may have seen light rain.

Rain chances in that area remain going into Monday morning - everywhere else will be dry and cool through Thursday.

So far the National Weather Service has "low confidence" in chances of rain moving into the area Friday and a dry Valentine's Day weekend is anticipated at this time.

The main concerns remain strong wind gusts that will be continuing in our area through Monday afternoon.

While places like Gaviota saw a 36 mph wind gust Sunday, that's nothing compared to a potential new record that was set near Lake Tahoe.

The Kirkwood Ski Resort recorded a gust of 209 mph!

Because of the strong winds in our area, we're seeing its impacts out on the water.

We have a High Surf Advisory going into Monday morning where surf heights can be 8-12 ft.
