To help community members sheltering at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sassafrass Restaurant in Lompoc is delivering meals free of charge to Lompoc residents.

As of Wednesday, the restaurant had served and delivered 120 meals to community members self-isolating at home.

Due to shelter-at-home orders across California and the rest of the country, the restaurant located at 129 North V Street had to indefinitely close their doors and limit their hours of operation.

To continue working, though, the owner of Sassafrass says they decided to deliver meals to community members staying home.

"It was a huge shock," said Sarah Price, the owner of Sassafrass and Big Truck Foods. "It was rough and scary, and it still is scary. We need to figure everything out, but we're just trying to adapt."

According to the restaurant's Instagram page, Sassafrass is offering curbside pick-up or delivery from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, as well as a food truck open Wednesday through Saturday.

To order, call or text Sassafrass at 805-314-6368. You can check out the restaurant's menu here.
