Work is underway to upgrade an underground transformer in Avila Beach.
A PG&E spokesperson tells KSBY the work began Wednesday along First Street, but is taking longer than expected due to high tides as the site is near the ocean.
The spokesperson says generators were brought in to keep power on for customers during the work, describing the need for the transformer upgrade as critical.
PG&E is hoping to have the work completed sometime on Friday.
