Weekend anchor and multimedia journalist Claudia Buccio joined KSBY News in August of 2021.
Born and raised in Southern California, Claudia spent nine years living in Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico, and is proud of her Mexican American heritage. Claudia returned to California to attend Santa Ana College and later graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and a master’s degree in Journalism. She credits working at her parent’s restaurant throughout middle and high school for learning to cook and how to talk to people from all backgrounds.
Claudia’s professional career started as a bilingual multimedia journalist in Palm Springs working for both the NBC and Univision stations. Later, she worked at the Univision station in San Diego where she continued to gain experience covering a wide range of stories from wildfires to elections and the Covid-19 pandemic. Her true passion, however, is community reporting. She has been recognized with numerous awards for her reporting including two regional Emmy awards.
In her free time, Claudia loves to travel and spend quality time with her family. She also enjoys dressing up her fur baby “Cuki,” and singing. “Have the courage and be kind,” is her life motto, which rings true to her as both a journalist and a Disney fan.
She looks forward to sharing your stories and all the Central Coast community has to tell. If you have a story idea for Claudia, email her at claudia.buccio@ksby.com.
