San Luis Obispo County residents can drop off unwanted prescription drugs at Drug Take Back Day

San Luis Obispo County is doing a countywide Drug Take-Back Day to help prevent over the counter drug abuse Saturday.

Anyone can bring their over-the-counter or prescriptions drugs to several locations Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the SLO Opioid Safety Coalition.

People can drop of their medication at:

  • Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center at 1010 Murray Street.|
  • Twin Cities Community Hospital at 1100 Las Tablas Road, Templeton.
  • Arroyo Grande Social Services/SAFE Office at 1086 Grand Ave., Arroyo Grande.

The event is free and a convenient way to safely dispose of unused or unwanted medication.

The hospitals are accepting prescription medication, over-the-counter medication, vitamins, medication ointments, inhalers, liquid medication in leak-proof containers. They are not accepting needs, thermometers, aerosol cans, medical waste, personal care products and hydrogen peroxide.
