Cayucos resident Bobby Delancelloti is 2020's first Hometown Hero of the year and a surprise drive-by celebration was held to honor him Thursday afternoon.

KSBY's Hometown Heroes contest asks the community to nominate individuals who are making a positive impact on the Central Coast.

Delancellotti runs the non-profit Estero Bay Kindness Coalition, which partners with other organizations and businesses to help locals in need.

Once a month, he goes to the 40 Prado homeless shelter in San Luis Obispo to offer haircuts and teach personal hygiene. He helps clean toilets and offers a listening ear to anyone who wants to talk.

Delancelotti also runs a program to help feed local school children.

He's been serving the Central Coast for more than 35 years.

As a Hometown Heroes winner, Delancelotti will receive a $500 prize.

Five more Hometown Heroes will be awarded. To learn more about the contest and to nominate someone, click here.
