Single-parent students at Allan Hancock College received free thanksgiving meals Tuesday.

Fifty-five students at the community college in Santa Maria received a Thanksgiving meal, courtesy of the college's care program.

The meal includes turkey, potatoes, beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, stuffing, pumpkin pie, whipped cream and butter.

"They're super appreciative and thankful for the support they're receiving during this really difficult time and being able to provide food for their families and put food on the table and gather as a family and not have to be stressed out about the financial cost these days,” said Alex Spiesf, care program coordinator at Allan Hancock College.

The donations were made from school faculty and staff, as well as local community members.
