People gathered at a ceremony in Grover Beach to honor, reflect and remember the events of 9/11.
The mayor of Grover Beach, Five Cities Fire police chief and Grover Beach police chief all delivered speeches.
They also held a moment of silence and open reflection in memory of the victims and families of the terrorist attacks.
"So we are here today to say thank you to all the first responders, the police, the fire, the emergency services who charge into harms way. We say thank you to these people who are wired to rush into a situation in an effort to save others while putting their own safety and lives at risk, but we also want to remember those people that have died of cancer and respiratory diseases in the months and years that have followed the attacks," said Grover Beach mayor Jeff Lee.
Afterwards, they held a peace walk to the 9/11 memorial.
