It's been a long time coming but the time is finally here for college basketball. Cal Poly men's basketball began their season at the Mott against Bethesda.

The Mustangs came out victorious with a 100-46 victory. The two teams have met up on three different occasions, Mustangs have won each match-up.

Head coach John Smith is pleased with the way his team is playing together at the beginning of the season.

"The guys were excited like it was the first day of school, back in elementary school or Christmas. We had fun with it tonight."

While there was a lot of uncertainty about the season starting up, coach Smith is thankful for the opportunity to be playing basketball during this time.

"We just have an attitude of gratitude, that's what we've been talking to our guys about. Making sure we understand we are fortunate to be playing this game and that we get to play it with everything that's going on with this pandemic."

Iowa transfer Riley Hill led the Mustangs with 17 points and seven rebounds. Returner Mark Crowe followed behind with 15 points and seven boards.

Cal Poly will travel to the Bay Area next week for three games starting with San Francisco on Dec. 4th.
