Several roads in San Luis Obispo will be closed and gunshots may be heard on Thursday, May 7, as the San Luis Obispo Police Department hosts the county-wide Peace Officers Memorial.
A section of Chorro Street and Broad Street that stretches from Palm Street to Monterey Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
A three gun volley will be taking place from Mission Plaza as part of the event.
Gunshots may be heard in the area between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Officials are aware of the gunshots and ask that they not be reported.
The Peace Officers Memorial honors the officers who died in the line of duty in 2025.
The event is open to the public. The ceremony will begin at 10:00 am and conclude at approximately 11 a.m.
