Highway 154 is closed to all traffic starting Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the closure will allow for fire personnel and equipment to utilize the highway.
CHP says the closure will be from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. into the foreseeable future. The highway will be utilized for fire operations after they decide which strategic plan to take to fight the Thomas Fire.
CHP asks travelers to avoid Highway 154 during the rest of the day as well and use Highway 101 as a detour.
