Firefighters have fully contained the Thomas Fire that burned in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties as of Friday morning.
CAL FIRE announced at approximately 9 a.m. that the perimeter had been 100 percent contained. The Thomas Fire sparked December 4 and has burned 281,893 acres, making it the largest wildfire in California state history.
The announcement comes a week before firefighters had estimated they would be able to contain it. The fire destroyed 1,063 structures and damaged 280 others.
