With Valentine’s Day less than a week away, flower bouquets are coming together and finishing touches are being made on special chocolates in San Luis Obispo.
Local florists and chocolate shops are bustling the week ahead of love’s biggest day. They say now is the time to place your Valentine’s Day orders.
Mama Ganache Artisan Chocolates has called in extra staff to get ready for the holiday rush.
"We love Valentine’s Day! Mama Ganache is all about Valentine’s Day because it’s all about love. Chocolate is all about love," said co-owner Eve Neuhaus. "It’s about giving people things that you love so Valentine’s Day is actually the best day of the whole year for us."
Mama Ganache’s best sellers on Valentine’s Day are their handmade truffles.
There’s something to satisfy almost every sweetheart’s sweet tooth.
"This year we have a rose petal almond chocolate in milk chocolate and we have a lot of new vegan items this year," Neuhaus said.
Chocolate makers sweetly suggest calling in your order ahead of February 14.
The same goes if you’re hoping to send flowers to your love.
Wilder Flower Co. in San Luis Obispo has been prepping for Valentine’s Day since November.
"We really thrive on being able to send out those messages of love," said owner Asha Renew. "[Flowers are] like medicine for the soul."
All of their flowers are California-grown and locally sourced.
You’ll find some red roses but Renew says those actually are not the most popular this Valentine’s Day.
"I find that people really like when they’re something unique in their arrangements," said Renew. "So one of our collections, the Ruth Collection is a mix of really rich reds and peaches and then I like to put raspberries on the vine in that arrangement."
