A group of creative Shell Beach Elementary fourth graders is taking their group-made robot to a state competition.

The group is part of Destination Imagination – a global organization that aims to get children thinking creatively through kid-led group work.

The students created a robot and even crafted a dramatic play to go along with it during their regional competition and did so well they’ll be moving on to the next competition this weekend.

"Anybody could do Destination Imagination. What you need to have to do it is nothing. Well, you need to be able to think outside the box and work together with friends or people you know," said student and competitor Tanner Bournoville.

The group will head to the state Destination Imagination competition on April 7 in Clovis.
