Morro Bay State Park is looking for volunteer kayakers to become part of the SeaLife Stewards program.
Stewards share information about local wildlife with other kayakers, surfers, divers, boaters, and paddle boarders and make sure people are viewing that wildlife from a safe distance.
The program begins this May.
Volunteers will receive training in the classroom and in the water on how to prevent wildlife disturbance, record science data, be safe on the water, and interact and share information with other people on the bay.
Stewards must be able to swim and kayak and commit to at least two four-hour shifts per month.
For more information and to submit an application, contact Jenny Foca at SeaLifeStewards@gmail.com or (805) 548-0388.
