The 75th Annual Santa Maria Elks Rodeo and Parade is fast approaching. Along with the usual events like barrel racing and bull riding is the family fun event of Mutton Bustin’.
Mutton Bustin’ gives local kids the opportunity to get in on the rodeo action.
The event is open to kids ages 5 to 7 and involves riding a sheep in the rodeo arena. Contestants chosen to compete will have the opportunity to perform at one of the rodeo performances during the rodeo weekend of May 31 – June 3, 2018.
Each Mutton Bustin’ contestant will receive a "goodie" bag and will compete for the chance to win a custom-made silver belt buckle that is presented to daily winners.
The deadline to enter your child for this year’s CoastHills Credit Union Mutton Bustin’ Event is next Friday, April 13 at 5 p.m. You can register at the CoastHills branch located at 1203 South Broadway in Santa Maria or online at www.coasthills.coop.
On Saturday, April 14, 70 names will be drawn from those entries. Participants can expect to be notified by Monday, April 16.
Those chosen will have to pay a $50 registration fee, show proof of age, proof of medical insurance, and complete a registration form at the Elks Rodeo Office, located at 113 S. College Drive in Santa Maria.
