Earthquake shakes Santa Barbara Thursday afternoon

An earthquake shook the Santa Barbara region Thursday afternoon.

It happened at about 12:30 p.m. 

According to the USGS, the epicenter of the 5.3 magnitude earthquake was located about 17 miles south of Santa Cruz Island or about 40 miles south of Santa Barbara.

According to the Tsunami Warning Center, there is no threat of a tsunami.

There are no immediate reports of any damage.
