Unit 1 at Diablo Canyon Power Plant in Avila Beach is operating at 50 percent power in order to conduct a planned cleaning of the unit’s intake tunnels, according to PG&E.
Crews will reportedly be working on the non-nuclear side of the plant to clean the cooling water system intake tunnels and perform other scheduled maintenance.
PG&E says Unit 1 will return to full power once the work is complete. Unit 2 continues to operate at 100 percent power.
