UPDATE (8:51 a.m.) – Authorities in Grover Beach are waiting for crews from Pacific Gas & Electric to arrive at the scene of a gas leak in the city.
The area surrounding 2nd St. and Newport Ave. is blocked off. It’s not known when the closure will be lifted.

First responders are on scene of a gas leak in Grover Beach Tuesday morning.
Grover Beach police are asking everyone to avoid the neighborhood near 2nd St. and Newport Ave. where a gas line reportedly broke in a construction zone.

It’s unknown at this time which areas are being evacuated because of the gas leak.
