Middle school students got their hands wet in the kitchen as part of a Santa Barbara County Foodbank program.
A seven-week-long course, entitled "Teens Love Cooking," finished on Wednesday night in New Cuyama. Organizers taught students how to be more proficient in the kitchen, hoping they will pass their skills onto families so that they will be able to eat and cook healthily while on a budget.
"They love it. They’re super energetic, and from the first week until now, they’ve learned a lot," said Elise Dixon, the food action coordinator for Blue Sky Center New Cuyama. "They’ve learned a lot, we have some expert choppers."
