Deadline fast approaching to enter kids in Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Mutton Bustin’

Posted

The 75th annual Santa Maria Elks Rodeo is still more than a month away but the deadline to enter into one of the rodeo’s most popular events is almost here.

The CoastHills Credit Union Mutton Bustin’ competition is a long-standing tradition where local kids get in on the rodeo action by riding a "mutton," or sheep, around the arena.

The event is open to kids ages five to seven, weighing less than 60 pounds.

You may enter your child in the competition by submitting your entry information in person during normal bank hours at the CoastHills Santa Maria location at 1203 South Broadway.

Or, enter online by 5 p.m. Friday.

Rodeo officials will draw 75 names from those entries Saturday. If your child was picked, you’ll be notified Monday.

It’s free to enter but if your kid is selected, there is a $50 registration fee.
