The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce says its networking events for young urban professionals is growing.

Organizers have developed the Santa Maria Connect! program to bring career professionals with less than ten years of experience to meet once a month. Meetings feature a guest speaker in a different location and encourage attendees to learn more about the different professional hubs of Santa Maria.

"We are up to about 30-40 people now per meeting, so that’s great," said realtor Edgar Gascon. "I’ve actually gotten business and given business to this, so networking with our group of people has really built business relationships."

Santa Maria Connect! attendees are encouraged to network at the events. They also say they help one another brainstorm ideas about how to improve their business and give back to the community.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Costa De Oro in Santa Maria.
