The Lompoc Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own, a recently retired fire captain.
Carl Edward died early Wednesday morning due to complications from a recent cardiac arrest, according to the fire department. His family was reportedly by his side at the time.
"While we mourn Carl’s loss, we honor him for his dedication, commitment, and joyful humor that he brought to us all," the fire department said on social media.
