Organizers of the annual Avila Beach Blues Festival have announced that this year’s concert will be free.

Earlier this month, Huey Lewis and The News, which was supposed to headline the concert, announced the cancellation of its 2018 tour because of frontman Lewis’ sudden hearing loss.

As a result, festival organizers say the event will now be free and anyone who already purchased a ticket will receive a full refund.

Gates will open at noon and the show will start at 2 p.m. with the Guy Budd Band. Shemekia Copeland and The Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson will also perform.

The Avila Beach Blues Festival is scheduled for Sunday, May 27 at the Avila Beach Golf Resort.
