Construction crews in Santa Barbara County will begin a series of road improvement projects in several places beginning next week.

Crews will be resurfacing 12 miles of lanes in Vandenberg Village, Mission Hills, Orcutt, Santa Ynez and Sisquoc. The project is expected to cost $1.7 million.

Another project will resurface Ray Road from Betteravia Road to Brown Road west of Santa Maria. That project is planned to cost $450,000.

The two projects will be funded through Measure A and money from Senate Bill 1, which increased the statewide gas tax and car registration fees on January 1.

Construction will start April 30 and continue Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. The road work is expected to continue until June.
