Emergency crews responded to multiple crashes late Tuesday afternoon in southern Santa Barbara County.

At about 4:45 p.m., a truck crashed into a tree at N. San Marcos Rd. and Via Parva in Santa Barbara with the male driver trapped inside. According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the driver of the tree trimming truck lost control and the vehicle struck a telephone pole, then veered off into a tree. Firefighters had to extricate the driver, a man in his mid-20s, from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A few minutes later, an overturned vehicle was reported on Highway 154 at Painted Cave Rd. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the driver was initially trapped but later transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

At about the same time, a vehicle was reported on its side along northbound Highway 101 near Santa Monica Rd. in Carpinteria.

The cause of the crashes is unknown at this time; however, rain was falling in the area.
