Cal Poly will hold its biennial Baker Forum at the on-campus Performing Arts Center Friday afternoon. This year’s forum will feature a diversity specialist and panelists focused on dialogue to help transform the university. The event is titled "Our Collective Journey Begins: Real and Raw, An Intimate Dialogue to Get us Back on Track".
The keynote address will be delivered by diversity specialist Kimberly McLaughlin-Smith from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. McLaughlin-Smith is currently a consultant for Cal Poly.
The topic is in response to recent events on the campus including the now infamous blackface incident that made national news when a fraternity member attended a fraternity-sponsored party in blackface. The discussion will take place from 2-4 p.m.
