Los Osos dog park project on hold

The planned addition of a dog park to Los Osos Community Park is delayed for the time being.

The holdup is due to the Los Osos Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP). It has yet to be completed.

Once the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service signs off on the HCP, the Los Osos Community Services District can get to work on the dog park.

Los Osos is in an environmentally sensitive area. Fish and Wildlife looks out for endangered animals and plants.

"In the meantime, we can work on the items associated with the County like the lease and the Los Osos Community Plan while we wait for Fish and Wildlife to approve the HCP," said Los Osos Community Services District General Manager Renee Osborne.

The dog park is set to be built within the community park on Palisades Avenue.
