Caltrans and local officials met with Five Cities residents Wednesday night to talk about plans to relieve the daily traffic jam on Highway 101 through Shell Beach.

A project has been proposed to add a part-time southbound traffic lane between between Avila Beach and Pismo Beach.

Some locals voiced concerns about the ramp at Dinosaur Caves being closed and brought of issues with lane that were added in the past.

"Reaching out to the public allowed our engineering and environmental team to take in public comment particularly those who live in the community and know all the innate details about how they use the 101 in their daily lives," said Caltrans project manager Paul Valado.

Officials are still in the planning phases of the project.
