The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center has received a $1.5 million grant from the Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust. It’s the largest cash gift in the Performing Arts Center’s history.

In appreciation for the gift, the Foundation Board will rename Sidney Harman Hall as the Harold Miossi Hall.

Officials made the announcement Wednesday before the Audra McDonald concert.

The PAC’s main auditorium was named Sidney Harman Hall in honor of a generous donation of audio equipment when it originally opened in 1996. Representatives for the Harmans returned the naming rights to the Foundation in 2014 in hopes that another donor would come forward.

The Miossi name will also expire after 15 years to make room for another donor.

Foundation leaders say the Miossi grant will ensure stability for programs like the School Matinee Program, which brings local students to the PAC for live professional arts performances.
