Fire officials have released the name of the man who died while reportedly trying to put out a fire at his San Luis Obispo home Wednesday night.
He has been identified as Gregory Johnson, 68.
When firefighters arrived at the home on the corner of Rich Court and Augusta Street, they found a woman who had escaped unharmed, but she said her husband was still inside.
Fire officials say it appears Johnson succumbed to the smoke before he was able to make it out of the house.
Investigators are still working to determine what started the fire, but at this time, they say it appears to be accidental.
